Unanimous Superior	Performing at the 2008 Santa Monica High School SCSBOA Festival, the Wind Ensemble took high honors playing Donald Grantham's "Southern Harmony" and the Bhuelman transcription of the "Blessed are They" section of the Brahms German Requiem.
Superior	Entering with music at the AA level (typically reserved for colleges and exceptionally good high school ensembles), the Concert Band earned a Superior Rating at the 2008 Torrance SCSBOA Festival, playing Phillip Sparke's "To a New Dawn" and Norman Dello Joio's ". . . From Every Horizon . . ."
Wind Ensemble Receives	The Wind Ensemble received a “Superior” rating for their performance at the 2009 John Burroughs High School SCSBOA Festival, performing the first two movements of the Kozevnikov Sympnony No. 3 "Slavyanska" and the last two movements of Kenneth Hesketh's Danceries. In addition, the ensemble received a “Superior” for sight reading. Congrats!

Symphonic Band receives "Superior"	On March 6th, 2008 the SYMPHONIC BAND received a “Superior” rating for their performance at the JOHN BURROUGHS HIGH SCHOOL SCSBOA FESTIVAL. In addition, the band received a “Superior” for sight reading. Congrats!
Concert Band receives "Superior"	On March 6th, 2008 the CONCERT BAND received a “Superior” rating for their performance at the JOHN BURROUGHS HIGH SCHOOL SCSBOA FESTIVAL. In addition, the band received an “Excellent” for sight reading. Congrats!
1st Place	This past Saturday, our band won 1st Place in Division A at the 2007 Fullerton Festival of Bands Invitational Field Show Tournament! Our Color Guard won 3rd Place and the Percussion Section won 5th Place in a field of 15 HS bands.
2nd place	Winterguard takes second place at the 2008 Azuza HS competition on Mar 8. Congratulations to all!
3rd Place	The Marching Band took 3rd place at the 2008 Los Altos Field Tournament with a score of 79.00; the highest score that Mira Costa has ever recieved at an SCSBOA level competition. Additionally, The Colorguard took 3rd place.
